DreamWorks presents the third in the series of “Kung Fu Panda” – ‘The weight is over’ and it is truly a sight to see. It is huge and bold on the big screen with its trademark nonstop movement. I felt as if the film flew by in a matter of minutes with all that was happening around me along with the unending laughter from everyone around me which included me too; it actually brought tears to my eyes in places as it is as funny as it is meaningful and warm.The music, by Hans Zimmer, is never-ending and enthralling with pieces of tunes that you will recognize and be happy about. While constant motion is happening right in front of you, this is impossible to look away from – at least for me. As the movie begins, Po exclaims “Justice is about to be served” because Kai - “The beast of vengeance” (J.K. Simmons) has returned to the scene to do mighty battle in their village. This sends all of the characters (so many vocal performances to list!) into frenzied motion but they know that they can count on Po learning to be a Master Dragon Warrior himself with a little teaching.
Upon Kai’s exit, Po jumps into a bubble bath tub and is seen by his adoptive father who asks him, “I come home to find you playing with your dolls”? Po shouts loudly, “Action Figures”! I have heard this response over and over myself and found it interesting with boys and their ‘characters’.
This is the point with these wonderful dialogs of DreamWorks pictures; they are just as entertaining for adults to watch along with their children which are a definite bonus. This particular film is chock full of one-liners that come at you quick from especially Po - (Jack Black) - who is known for this in any film he does and I always appreciate a movie that can entertain any age group being all together.
An older Panda named Li comes to say many years ago he lost his son and Po returns the sentiment. They quickly find each other again exclaiming that “It’s like looking in a fat mirror” with their likenesses and he soon learns that the Universe says there is a whole Panda Village where he belongs. He meets his relatives, learns what it means to have a Panda family, and really learns how Panda’s live… Not like he once did but he adapts as this is a happy and uplifting movie.
As I said, the film is in constant motion along with dialog and sound from the very beginning until the end. It grabs your attention with Kai and Po, then your heart and never lets loose. And, yes, there was a warm and happy tear in my eye at the end of Kung Fu Panda 3. This film is Highly Recommended for the Family or for Anyone who wants a good time…
