Zootopia is one of those movies that both kids and adults alike enjoy. I watched this movie in the cinema with my wife and my almost 4-year old son and we were all engaged from beginning to end.
The Plot:
In a world were predators and preys live in harmony, Judy, a countryside bunny, moves to the Zootopia metropolis to become a cop. While at first she will not be taken seriously due to her size, she will soon pair with Nick, a fox and con artist, to investigate the no. 1 case in Zootopia: the disappearance of several predators. As the movie goes on, they slowly discover a plot that could endanger the balance and future of Zootopia.
The Strong Points:
- This movie has lots and great humor that I, as an adult, really enjoyed. I will not spoil you the best scene in the movie, but let's say that the visit of Judy and Nick to the DMV kept us laughing for more than 5 good minutes
- The movie touches on the topics of discrimination, racism and intolerance in a very direct way. The feelings of those being discriminated, both preys and predators, are touching and give a lot of perspective. For those wanting to raise their kids into equality and tolerance, this is a very educative movie
- The animation is great, as usual these days. There are many action scenes (chases, fights and so on) to keep you engaged
- The movie has several plot twists that, while somehow predictable, make it much more interesting than a "good guy vs. bad guy" plot. As an adult, you can have fun trying to make your own theories about what is happening, like if it was a simplified Agatha Christie novel!
The Weak Points:
- Not much, really. The movie is awesome!
Overall, an excellent movie that continues a trend of amazing animation movies for the whole family!
As a side note, the movie does not have songs during the movie (like The Lion King or Frozen), only one at the very end. It is main plot from beginning to end.
